Logan's Birthday Adventure

Before and after Annie getting hurt, we had a really great day! Logan enjoyed our visit to the white water park so much, that he decided he wanted to go back to celebrate his birthday. So we loaded up two mini vans with our family and a bunch of his friends for an adventure.

Everyone had a good time on the water for a few hours, then we dried off to watch a river regatta event. This is an event where contestants make boats out of cardboard and ride them down through the course. Pretty cool. Well, they announced that they needed volunteers to ride one of the boats because the team that made it couldn't be there in person. The teens took off running to volunteer! (That's actually how Annie got hurt. I think Logan was the only one who knew she'd tripped, but he thought she was okay at that point. So none of them really knew until afterward.) Five of the boys got to ride the cardboard 'flamingo' boat and they had a spectacular fail! Nevertheless, they flipped it upside down and managed to ride it like a raft the rest of the way. 🤣 (I missed all this, but they told me afterward.)

Since Jim and I were at the hospital, one of Logan's friends drove a vehicle home with all the teen boys (hooray for teens with drivers licenses!), and a kind friend who lived nearby invited our kids over to their house until we were done. So the kids had a fun evening while they waited, and they even fed us all pizza and cupcakes to end the day right before we went home. It was a good end to a fun day that had gone sideways!

What a memorable birthday!
