Cousins

Since we have had all of (my mom's and dad's) grandkids together this summer, we decided to have a picture taken of them together. My mom and I took them to JCPenney to have it done last week. My kids totally rebelled. I guess they were tired of having photo shoots (considering our family pictures were the week before). Annie wouldn't stay in the picture, and she fought or cried when we tried to keep her in the pose. Logan either wouldn't smile, or he was tackling the other kids. I didn't think any of the pictures with all five kids were all that great, but a couple were okay. I ordered only one.

This was the very first picture taken, and when my kids were at their best. Consequently it was the best picture.

The individual and group shots of Danielle's kids turned out great, though.

This pose was our last attempt. I thought Annie might be inclined to stay in the picture because she liked climbing on the couch. I was right, but by then we couldn't get Logan to stay in the picture.

In this one, I have Annie's arms pinned and am tickling her so she would laugh instead of scream.

This one is my favorite.

Still tickling...

Fighting so hard to get loose...

I was bummed that Logan was being silly for this one. Once he was sitting on Bryce, he decided it was time to wrestle.

Wiggles

Last week I received a phone call from my little sister that began like this, "How would you like to go see the Wiggles tomorrow night?"

Backing up...several weeks ago I noticed that the Wiggles were performing live at the Pikes Peak Center, just ten minutes down the road, and I thought it would be really fun to take my kids to see it. I didn't buy tickets, though, because it definitely wasn't in our budget.

So when Sarah won five free tickets to the performance and invited us I was ecstatic. She and I went and took Logan, Annie, and Bryce. (Annie was old enough to require a ticket.) The kids had a blast, and we had a great time watching their reactions. Annie couldn't help but dance to most of the songs, and she was all eyes for most of the 1 1/2 hour performance. That was amazing for her because she's the girl that won't spend two minutes watching a cartoon. She was SO excited when Wags the Dog came on stage and did a song. She loves dogs and giggled the entire time. Logan on the other hand, while he enjoyed it every bit as much as anybody, hardly moved for ANY of it. He was glued to the stage the way he is glued to his favorite movie and hardly graced us with a smile...a very good indication that he was fascinated. Bryce was funny too. He danced on the way in, and he danced on the way out, but he did NOT dance during. I guess he was too embarrassed to dance with all the other kids that were dancing. We had fun too. It was amazing how many kids were there (all preschool age and under)...on average I saw three kids per two adults. When they had the audience sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star it sounded like an amazing young child's choir.

Funny side note: Afterwards, I took Logan to the bathroom. As I walked down the row of stalls, I noticed that every stall had a pair of adult legs standing in front of the door, and I heard lots of encouragement going on. We joined the party.

Logan's Latest

Drum roll please...

Logan has been wearing underwear for three weeks!
Yay Logan! He is doing wonderfully too...rarely an accident, and he doesn't (usually) want to go back to diapers...not that I'd let him now.

We haven't been pushing potty training with him at all, and I hadn't decided it was time to quit wearing diapers either. I knew I had to be committed to this. Then one day he wanted to wear underwear, and he made it all day. The next day he did the same thing, and I thought maybe he'd just wear underwear from then on. That's it. It turned out we were both ready. (I'm still not ready for nighttime accidents, so he still gets one diaper in a 24 hour period.)

Walking?

So I don't have a picture of it, and my most recent pictures of her aren't very good (I put them on here just for the sake of having a picture), but Annie is starting to show interest in walking. She FINALLY took her first steps a couple of weeks ago, and she's doing more each day. It's taken FOREVER to convince her to let go for even a second. (It also took FOREVER to convince her to walk holding our hands.) She's a big ham about it too. Whenever she does decide to walk she has to do it when there are a lot of people around and she can get a lot of attention. She also thinks it's funny to crawl instead when we try to work with her (she understands...believe me).

Haircut

All summer we've been talking about getting Aubrey's hair cut; her hair is really thick, and she's wanted to go shorter so it would be easier to take care of. So a week or so ago, I took her to get it done...in my kitchen. I must admit she was pretty brave to let me do it, especially when I pulled out the kitchen scissors, and hacked off six inches in less than a minute...

BEFORE

AFTER

Of course, I also trimmed it more precisely after that hack job (which took over an hour).

Lookin good!!!!
