Grandma's House

Over the river and through the woods, to Grandma's house we go!  (Okay, actually it was over the interstate and through the neighborhood...)  The kids have had a lot of time with their grandparents (on both sides) this summer, and because they have yards and we don't, they get to take their swimsuits every time.  The sprinklers have been a huge hit!

Last Saturday, we all went to my mom's, and the kids helped her with yard work.

She actually gave Logan the clippers and he had a blast trimming down her too tall daisies.

Annie helped water the plants.

Her shoes needed washing...apparently.

Big Boy Alex

Alex is growing WAY to fast; I'm really not sure how it's happening.  This week he started eating solid foods.

Here he is before the first bite.

Here we go...

We didn't get his reaction to that first bite on camera because he turned his head, and we didn't get the next several on camera either because then Jim decided to fix the settings on our camera.  But, these last pictures represent his overall reaction pretty well.

He didn't cry, but he didn't smile either, so it must have been okay!  He's done great with it every day since, too, although he is still making some pretty funny faces.

Today he had his 4-month checkup, and he's turning out to be a little guy already!

He was 15 pounds (50th percentile).

And he was only 24.5 inches long (25th percentile).  The other kids weren't even that short at this age!

I failed to note how big his head was; no doubt that was plenty large, though.  Maybe I'll measure it myself when he wakes up.

As I looked at these pictures I took this week, I'm realizing that he's not a newborn anymore!  He's starting to get his little boy look, and he wants to interact all the time.  In fact, he's been fighting nap times this week and I think it's because he wants to be with us!

Hair!

I've been so excited to fix Annie's hair ever since she got some, and I'm constantly running my fingers through it (much to her frustration) thinking up what I can try.  She still doesn't have much, so she really only has one hair-do that will stay in.  The other night, though, we I had some fun.  She sure is a good sport!  (It didn't stay in very long though!)

Getting her to hold still for her hair was the easy part; I had to have Jim hold her to take a picture!

Run-by...

Time to wrestle...and time for the boys to join the photos!

Hopefully the blurriness of this photo and the brightness of the previous won't be repeated (we think we finally fixed the settings on our camera).

I think her morning after hair was pretty cute too!  (I wonder what sponge curlers would do...)

Farm Babies

Last week we spent several days at my in-law's.  They have some land and had just gotten baby chickens and baby guineas.  Logan was thrilled about them, and Annie loved them too, just so long as they didn't get near her!

Petting a baby chick.

Petting the 'surprise' baby chick.

Annie wouldn't get near them if someone was holding one.

Petting a baby guinea.

Looking at the baby guineas.

Even though is was hot inside and out, Annie wanted to wear this winter hat to eat her lunch.  It made me hot just looking at her.

Painted Lady

Right before it was time to leave for church last Sunday, Annie had a little surprise for me.  She'd found my mascara and had done her own makeup!

Here she is all cleaned up and ready to go!  (Yes, I do mean church, although a luau would have been good too.)

Moo!

Today is dress like a cow day at Chick Fil A; if you do you get free food!  This is probably incredibly silly, but we did it, and had a blast!

Here's my pretty princess cow.

My handsome little bull.

The cutest calf around!  (I seriously got a lot of comments about how cute he was!)

And the momma cow. (Definitely a dairy cow!)

They are 'mooing' in this picture.

I talked Angela and Lucy into doing it with us!

We each got a free meal, even Alex (which Jim appreciated later).

We also went outside where we won a bunch of coupons for more free food, and we dunked the cow!
Fun day!

Bug Bites: Round THREE

Almost TWO weeks later, Annie has swelled up in the same spots that she had her bug bites.  What is going on here?!

Matching

Yesterday, Logan wanted to wear his 'red race car socks' with his outfit.  When I told him they didn't match he said, "Yes they do!  They match my red race car underwear that I'm wearing!"  I couldn't dispute that.  :)

Cute!

Here come some cute pictures:

We've discovered a basket that is just the right size for Alex to sit in...it's better than a Bumbo!

Alex has been smiling for a while now, but I finally caught it on camera!

Annie is my little princess and she's funny too!  The other day she said to me, "Mom, I'm checking my e-mail."

I love what a little man Logan has become, and I love hearing his thoughts.  Yesterday, I said to him, "You're my sunshine."  Without missing a beat he said, "No I'm not!  I'm your sunbeam!"

Annie and Logan are best friends.  On Monday, Jim and Logan spent the whole day together away from us all; we finally met up in the evening at Jim's parents' home.  Upon our arrival, Logan ran out of the house and happily called, "Annie!  Do you want to play with me?"  Annie's face lit up, she said, "Yeah!" and followed him inside.  Nevermind that Logan hadn't seen me all day either, or that Annie had just arrived to Daddy, grandparents, aunts, and an uncle.  None of us even received a glance.  They'd truly missed each other's company that day.

Alex has also been cooing and giggling for a while.  Last week I got a full belly laugh out him when I walked my fingers up his bare chest.  He's already getting ticklish!

Jim's dad thinks it's a rule that he has to give the kids ice cream every time he sees them.  Somehow, Annie got two cones on Saturday; she was super sticky afterward!

Alex is not neglected in his share of the fun around here.  Logan and Annie cuddle up next to him all the time!
