Board Game Marathon

Our first ever board game marathon was a blast!

3 days + about 70 games + lots of friends + tons of snacks = SO MUCH FUN!

We think this needs to be a new tradition! 😀

Daddy Time

Just a dad and his six kids. 😍

Diving Board

The little girls love the diving board!

Storage Room

I worked really hard one day to organize this storage room. I went through EVERYTHING and purged so much stuff.  It felt so good!

Then...

Oh the joy of home ownership! A couple of days after I organized our storage room, we got water in our basement. A blocked spot in our gutters (water not flowing to downspout), plus a low spot on the ground meant that it pooled and (we think) filled the blocks to our foundation, which then drained into the basement. Thankfully, several things made a frustrating situation better:

*I had a feeling that I should check the storage room, so I did.
*I'd just cleaned the storage room last week which made it SO much easier to move things around. Also, we only had plastic bins and water resistant shelves on the floor, so nothing in the room was damaged.
*We had a piece of carpet on the storage room floor. It acted like a sponge and trapped most of the water in the storage room. By the time we discovered the seepage, it had only affected a few feet of our finished basement. We only need to replace a small piece of carpet pad. Phew!
*A friend loaned us his shop vac (ours is in bad shape), so we were able to suck out the water before it caused more damage.
*Annie and Alex used a sled and slip and slide to drain subsequent water away from the house while it continued to rain. It worked!
*All three of our older kids helped a bunch. They made the job easier.

My silver lining was that I got a good workout in. LOL

Nauvoo

We had a lovely day in Nauvoo. We started by serving in the temple with a couple of other families. Most of the adults and youth went in the temple, and I took the younger kids to play pioneer games. Afterward we went to a lovely wedding and reception where the little girls were enthralled with the ceremony and bride. 😍

Deep End Test Success

This sweet little thing passed the deep end test! At age 5, she now holds the family record for youngest child to pass. 😮

She was on cloud nine to be able to swim everywhere with the big kids. 😍 We ended up staying for 4 1/2 hours that day because she was so excited.

July 4th

As a kid, I was always jealous of the people who lived right next to locations with fireworks. Now we are those people! It was so fun to step out our front door to watch the show. We were close enough that we could even see where they were lighting them off from.  🎆😍

July 3rd

The next night we went to an airshow and fireworks. The boys particularly loved all the planes!

July 2nd

We started the 4th of July weekend off with a (literal) bang! Friends hosted an awesome party with snacks, shooting, and fireworks. We had so much fun! This has become a favorite tradition.

It was also an opportunity to say farewell to friends who are moving out of state. One friend has been telling others that if they ever took a job elsewhere, he'd make them this cake. Well, he is the one leaving, so we made the cake for him! 🤣

Funny note: When I was writing on the cake, I had a couple of kids who were really concerned. "That's not nice Mommy! You shouldn't write that Mommy!" I assured them that it would be funny, but they didn't believe me. 🤣🤷‍♀️
