Too Much Time

I have a LOT of time on my hands today, so I feel the need to say something...anything...I only wish I had more pictures to share and something more interesting to say. The reason I have so much time today is because I am SICK and I have NO CHILDREN. My doctor is treating me for the swine flu, and in an effort to keep the kids healthy a wonderful friend is watching them all day. From her place, they are going straight to the church for the Trunk or Treat activity this evening. So I literally will be alone ALL DAY. I have to say that I really miss my kiddos. Jim stayed home to take care of them yesterday, and I hid out in bed all day. I avoided cuddling and kissing them and it was torture! Annie brought me her blankie at one point and laid her head on my lap because she wanted to cuddle; I thought my heart would break! I've never been so worried about getting my kids sick, but this is nasty stuff! I seriously felt like I'd been hit by a truck yesterday; today's been much better although I'm supposed to be contagious until Tuesday. I will be so happy to get well and not worry about spreading my germs. I am quite bummed to miss out on their Halloween fun, too. They are SO CUTE in their costumes...pictures to come (if I manage to get any).

BTW- Our snow finally came. We've had FOUR snow days in the last EIGHT days. Logan was so happy to wear his boots!

Primary Temple Trip

For our Primary activity this quarter, we decided to take the children to the temple. They were given a tour of the temple grounds and the weather was perfect which made it really nice. They also got to see the visitor's center, and the statue of the Christus inside. I think that was the favorite part for a lot of the kids. Logan certainly liked looking at the statue. He also liked that he received a bookmark with a picture of the temple on it. It was a wonderful day with the Primary kids.

Boy or Girl?

Tell me what you think. You have a 50% chance of hitting it on the nose. Our ultrasound is coming up soon...

Brrr...

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

But our blankets are so delightful...

And since we've no place we can go...
Where's the snow? Where's the snow? WHERE'S THE SNOW?!
.
Seriously...that picture represents the snow we've received in the last couple of days: not much. However, the ice conditions have been unbelievable! We tried going to the temple yesterday morning, and turned around after one mile; we'd already seen three accidents on the interstate! I heard there was also a 50 car pile up at one point because it only got worse. Today church was cancelled. My only complaint is this: If the weather has to be so bad that we can't drive anywhere, where is the snow for us to play in?

What Has Happened to My Children?!

I feel like I woke up one day recently and my baby was no longer a baby, and my toddler was no longer a toddler. I referred to Logan as a toddler a couple of days ago, and as soon as it was out of my mouth I knew he wasn't anymore. He can carry on full grammatically correct conversations! He understands everything and he wants to know how everything works. He is responsible enough to go into the boys bathroom alone! I still call Annie my baby, and Logan for that matter does too. She is "my baby Annie" to him. But she is starting to talk a lot, and she's old enough for nursery! She has even graduated from the baby room at the YMCA to the "big kid" group with Logan. She also knows how to throw tantrums and has very decided preferences in life (that result in tantrums when denied).

I just can't believe how fast this time is going! I am so grateful to be a full-time mom so I can watch them grow!

General Conference

We watched General Conference at home again this time. It was wonderful. I really enjoyed the talks and had some great discussions with Jim after the sessions. The kids had fun too. We had special snacks both days and they were allowed to eat them in the living room at their little table we brought inside.

My booger baby...

We repeated the same conference games from six months ago for Logan. On the left are pictures that he can identify. If he heared any of those referred to he could pick something from his special treat bowl (filled with fruit snacks, and bite sized licorice). On the right are the pictures of the general authorities. When he found the picture of who was speaking he could put a sticker on it. He was really excited to watch conference and see the prophet. He fell asleep during the afternoon session both days, and was really upset that it was over when he woke up. Thankfully we can replay the sessions!

Finished!

FINALLY! This was a huge project. When I decided to make these felt stockings for my kids, my mom told me you needed a year to complete each one. I totally understand now (although it didn't take a year). I wanted to make them because my siblings and I all had one and I loved looking at the different Christmas scenes when I was a little girl. I loved that they were 3-dimensional in some aspects, and that we all had our own unique stocking. I started Logan's in May, didn't work on it a lot during the summer months, and got busy with it again in September. I don't even want to count how many hours it took to complete. But I am totally pleased with the end product, and Logan loves it.

The thing I didn't realized about these stockings is how much embroidery work is involved. This thing had more than 100 pieces, and all but 3 of them had to be embroidered, stuffed, sequined, or a combination before they were attached to the stocking. The bear's scarf took three hours by itself!

Logan was constantly asking me if he could "have my stocking yet?" and telling me to "please make my stocking." So once it was finished I let him play with it for five minutes then told him we had to put it away until Christmas. He promptly filled it with toys and a small pumpkin, and proceeded to pretend to feed the bears the marshmallows (the marshmallows aren't totally attached). Now he keeps asking if it's Christmas yet.

As soon as his stocking was put away, he told me I needed to start Annie's stocking. This is the state that it is in...mostly. I worked on it for two hours after taking this picture, and all I accomplished in that time was some sequins (those tedious little things!). Not so sure it will be finished before this Christmas...

This is an up-close shot of what it will look like (except it will say 'Annie').

A totally random picture...

Annie's First...

...towel diaper. Here's the story: I always keep diapers and wipes in the car so I don't have to carry a diaper bag. I also keep one diaper, wipes, one little boy underwear, and shorts in my purse at all times. Generally I only need what is in my purse, so I rarely need to refill the diaper stash in my car. Well, one evening we were visiting my mom and Annie pooped...three times. By the second time I realized I was low on diapers, but guessed I had at least one more (because I didn't really look) AND figured it would be okay if I was out because there was no way she'd poop again. We'd be going home soon anyway. So the third time she pooped, we were sad to discover that there were NO MORE diapers. I couldn't just leave my baby in that mess for the drive home, so we wiped her clean and debated on what to do. Thankfully my mom came to our rescue by creating this towel diaper for our little girl. She was really mad about it at first, but got used to it.

...ponytail. Okay, so she really doesn't have enough hair, but I had to try it once. She's 18 months old! Really hoping I can finally fix her hair by the time she turns 2...
